The Release of the New Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Set to Replace Laptops

Microsoft launched the new Surface Pro 3 with the goal to replace your laptop. It has a large 12” display, has the power that you can see on a laptop, it is lightweight, and very versatile. The Surface Pro 3 will challenge other Ultrabook out in the market like the MacBook Air.

Microsoft are also targeting to challenge tablets, which they say are good for watching movies and reading ebooks, but you will have difficulty in using them for work. Surface Pro 3 can offer both with a big screen for entertainment and programs like email and a word processor for work.

Surface Pro 3 features a 12-inch screen which is larger than small laptop screens. It is 9.1mm thick which is much thinner than 17.3mm thick MacBook Air. It boast a screen with 2160X1440 pixels resolution with pixel density at 216ppi. It is powered by 4th-generation Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors.

The Surface Pro 3 also has a new and improved Type Cover keyboard with a much larger trackpad from the previous version and new keyboard keys. It is one of the thinnest keyboards around at 5mm. It is equipped with magnetic stability to keep the Cover steady, when you are typing something. It also allows the screen to sit at a near-flat angle of 150 degrees, which is like typing on a laptop.

The stylus Surface Pen is also a great addition to the Surface Pro 3. It can convert written text to digital content instantly. You can mark up presentations, sign documents, or enjoy art apps using the stylus
Surface Pen.

A lot of techies are impress with Microsoft's latest offering, however it is yet to be seen if it will do well in the market to compete with other ultrabooks like the MacBook Air.

The Surface Pro 3 starting price is $799 to $1,949. On May 21, 2014 they will start taking pre-orders. It will be available in the US and Canada on June 20.

With the portability of the tablet and the power of a laptop, the Surface Pro 3 deserve a second look.
